La Treille is part of an old wine making complex. It is situated on the edge of the village square in Rasteau. It has an enclosed private garden with a large pool. There is parking for 3 or 4 cars. La Treille has 4 bedrooms, 2 with double beds, 1 with twin beds, and a slightly smaller room with bunk beds and a 3/4 bed. Downstairs the dining room has a large wood burning stove although the property has the benefit of gas fired central heating. There is a large well-equiped kitchen, where wine vats previously stood. There is also a lounge with satellite tv, hi-fi and comfortable seating. The property benefits from one bathroom and one shower room.

The climate in summer is described as 'very warm', the average night/day temperature is 24.1 degrees centigrade, although around midday in July and August the intense Provencale sun regularly produces temperatures in excess of 30 degrees.

Rasteau is one of a small number of 'Villages Perches'. It is surrounded by a sea of vines and has, as a result, some excellent local wine producers. The 'Cru Repute' villages of Gigondas and Vacqueyras are less than 10 miles away, and Chateauneuf Du Pape is only a leisurely half hour drive. Ideal for wine tasting, the village also offers excellent opportunities for walking, cycling and climbing. It is in an area of stunning views, with mountaineous outcrops and Mont Ventoux, roman remains, the Ardeche gorge, the ancient walled City of Avignon, and is just over 80 miles from the Mediterranean.

Rasteau still retains its own baker, grocer, hairdresser and bar. Larger shopping complexes are available in Vaison La Romaine (9kms) and Orange (20kms).
