Gdansk rooftops
This tastefully modernised 2nd floor Gdansk apartment is situated in one of the townhouses close to the focal point of Gdansk old town - Neptune's fountain. From here you are able to look across the rooftops to see the spires and towers of the town hall and the church of St Mary's, reputed to be the largest brick church in Europe. This once great Hanseatic city has had a tumultuous history and is probably most famously known in recent years as the home of Lech Walesa. He and the Solidarity movement forced the first cracks in the communist system which ultimately led to the fall of the Berlin Wall. But Gdansk is not only a city whith a history dating back to the shipyard strikes and peaceful protests of 1980. Under it's German name of Danzig, the city was where the first shots of Wwii were fired. It lay in ruins in 1945 and was rebuilt brick by brick in the years following the end of the war. The old town was meticulously reconstructed and its ancient streets offer cafes, bars and restaurants aplenty. The picturesque Mariacka street is truly one of the most beautiful anywhere in the world and is the home to Gdansk's thriving amber trade. And Gdansk only forms one third of the Tri-city of Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia. The sandy beaches of the Baltic are only 15 minutes away along the coast by car while the lakes and forests of the Kashubian region are 30 minutes away to the west. The beauty of the city is complimented by the surrounding area and the low cost of living gives great value with a main course in a top local restaurant costing less than 10 Gbp and a pint at less than 1 Gbp.

Flat 7 at 89/90 Ogarna Street is simply excellent in all respects - situation, amenities, comfort etc. Very highly recommended. Owners very pleasant and helpful. I will be back!! Two small food/drink shops a few doors along and literally 50 metres from the centre of the main street in this beautiful city.I could not have asked for more!!
