Il Nido is a pleasant little property in a convenient location, however we felt it was a little overpriced and not up to the high standards we have experienced elsewhere in Tuscany and Umbria. The extra charges for gas/electricity/water/linen/towels/final cleaning added another 120Euros to the price!

On the last morning the cleaners were outside over an hour before we had to vacate the property making us feel hurried and unable to enjoy our last breakfast outside, as they were stood around watching us! Considering this, and the extra 60 Euros charged for final cleaning, the property wasn't overly clean on our arrival, with mould in the toothmug and dirt in the drawers.

The kitchen was very inadequately equipped for a self-catering property, particularly one with a help-yourself vegetable garden! There were no cooks knives, no bread knife, no vegetable peeler, no wine glasses, hardly any pans, and no oven dishes. We had to buy knives and borrow saucepans from the other properties. The dishwasher wasn't working and the cooker was very small. However there is a large fridge and freezer, and a microwave. The bathroom is equipped for disabled use but this meant that the shower had no compartment round it and thus flooded the bathroom.

The outside seating area is very nice and covered so you can sit outside even if it rains. The pool is good but deep (I am 5'3 and could only just touch the bottom) so not very good for children, although there is a slide.

The property is on a working farm and we were there during the tomato harvest, which started very early in the morning and was very noisy! Don't come here for peace and tranquility!

The location is good for getting around as it is close to the motorway, and it is easy to reach Perugia, Assisi and the surrounding area. There is a supermarket in the local town of Torgiano, 5 drive away, and there are nice shops and restaurants in the town. However being this close to a town and to transport links means it doesn't have the idyllic tranquil location of many Tuscan/Umbrian properties.

One of the best features of the property was the organic vegetable garden which you can help yourself to, this was a really special touch and we enjoyed some delicious vegetables! There are also eggs available from the farm. Beware of the dog though, he bites! (The scar is just about healing now)

Other good things were the wine in the welcome basket (!), there is a fan in the bedroom, a hairdryer, and nice views of the vineyards/farm. Overall we had a good time but felt some improvements needed to be made to bring it up to the standards of other (cheaper!) places we have stayed.
