New South Wales apartment rentals - home to the hip and happening city of Sydney, there is much more to New South Wales than its capital. The region's coastline is one long strip of white, sandy beaches, and surf-and-sun lovers flock here from all over the globe. Head to the Northern Rivers coastline for a breathtaking mix of mountain-and-forest scenery with pristine beaches. This area is known for its hippy, bohemian feel, and here you'll find many small inns and spas offering low-key attitudes and alternative therapies. The Yuraygir National Park is nearby too. Further down is the Hunter Coast, a surfing area centred around the chic city of Newcastle. Barrington Tops National Park, known for its fine walking trails, is a short drive away. Inland, New South Wales offers an incredible variety of landscapes and activities. The importance of the natural areas here is proven by the fact that the region is home to more than 600 parks and reserves, many of them national parks.

Much of New South Wales' interior is taken up by the vast Australian outback, a wild, undeveloped swath of land that you can in explore on foot, by horseback, by bike or by car. Rivers, studded with waterfalls, wind through the region, making great places for fishing or canoeing. While you're here, be sure to visit some of the aboriginal sites in the region, such as the interesting Aboriginal Cultural Museum in Brewarrina or the aboriginal cultural tour to the national parks of Boonoo Boonoo and Bald Rock.

New South Wales offers a relatively mild climate, with cool winters and hot summers. You can visit most of the area year-round, though the outback is best seen in winter (June-August), when the sun isn't shining quite so brightly. This time of year it's warm in the mild northern region but gets cold enough for snow skiing in the south. Sydney has an agreeable clime year-round, though the heat of summer drives many visitors straight to the coast during the months of December and January.
