Var has a Mediterranean climate with almost 3,000 hours of sunshine per annum. Average temperature in January is 7° C and in July 22° C. Rain occurs on average 78 days per year.

The region has 4 airports : a national airport (Toulon Hyères Airport), an international business airport (Gulf of Saint-Tropez Airport) and two international airports (Marseille Provence Aiport and Nice Cote d'Azur Aiport). High Speed Trains (TGV) offer services to Toulon from Paris in 4 hours 30 and from many other European capitals. The motorway network serving the region is excellent and Paris is about 950 kms.

14 Golf courses situated on the coast, in central Var and on the high plateau can be played throughout the year. There are great walks both along coastal paths and inland, where you can explore the castles of Provence or the vine-covered countryside and virgin forests. Specially laid out easily negotiable routes enable you to go mountain biking or cycling in this spectacular region. There are also 550 km of bridlepaths and good facilities for horseriding. The coast is a Mecca for watersport enthusiasts, particularly sailing, windsurfing and diving. The waters are clear with coral and protected underwater sites. There are many cultural activities catering for most tastes, including jazz, theatre, classical music, religious music, rock and theme festivals, including medieval days, a maritime film festival, kite displays and dance festivals. There are also themed routes and tours: the "route des Villages perchés", the "route des parcs et jardins", the "route du mimosa", the "route des gourmands" etc.
