Despite being an international resort, Champery remains a mountain village with lived in chalets and a notable lack of tour buses clogging up the streets. In 2007 it celebrated 150 years of tourism, making it one of the oldest Swiss ski resorts but still one of the prettiest.

Located in the Portes du Soleil, Champery is one of the resorts that make up Europe's largest ski area which straddles France and Switzerland. Champery is the key Swiss Portes du Soleil, with Avoriaz the key French resort.

Within the direct Champery ski area there are:

31 red runs

32 blue runs

2 green runs

165 km of downhill pistes

27 ski lifts

The resort itself is located at 1050 m and the highest ski lift goes to 2280 m. Within the combined Portes du Soliel area there are 650 km of pistes and 209 ski lifts.
