The Costa del Sol has more than just fabulous beaches and sun - with a history tinged with Roman and Moorish influences and rugged inland towns that are still predominantly olive farming communities, the Costa del Sol has something to offer everyone. The area is home to a number of renowned coastal tourist resorts, but it is still possible to find areas where the traditional low rise white washed buildings predominate, such as Nerja and Gaucin, both in the province of Málaga . Nerja, an old fishing village, still has an old quarter with winding streets, despite 16 km of dazzling beaches, while the cliff-top village Gaucin has a just handfull of local restaurants.
