CivitellaThe largest province in Tuscany Grosseto is one of the least populated areas of Italy and contains the towns of Orbetello, Roccastrada, Massa Marittima, Gavorrano, Follonica, Manciano, Castiglione della Pescaia. The land has undergone massive reclamation and once putrid and unhealthy marshland has been transformed. Stretches of almost deserted beaches of fine sand and lush pine forests seem to combine to give this zone a real sense of wildness. Large stretches of land have been left undisturbed and seem to be an extension of the Parco dell'Uccellina. This park stretches inland from the gentle banks of the mouth of the river Ombrone, where it's not uncommon to come across the traditional Maremman herdsmen called butteri.
CivitellaWinter in Tuscany can be cold and wet but spring always seems to come quickly. March is azalea and camelia time, whilst April and May are sometimes very wet months.
CivitellaTuscany's airports are Pisa's Galileo Galilei and Florence's Amerigo Vespucci. Trains run frequently from a stones through from the Galileo Galilei airport, and it's about an hour's ride to Florence. From Amerigo Vespucci airport it's a 20-minute bus ride from the centre of Florence.
