Regional Image of

Pistoia is a region of Tuscany northwest of Florence (Florence can be reached by car in about 20 minutes). Pistoia, the capital of the province is a well-preserved and charming medieval city inside the old walls and was founded by the Romans in the 6th century B.C. It is a quiet town surrounded by trees and lies at the foot of Appennine Mountains. Pistoia itself merits a visit because of its numerous and important museums, namely the Marino Marini Foundation, the characteristic Piazza della Sala and the Hospital del Ceppo.

Other places of interest are Abetone, a winter ski resort, Montecatini Terme & Monsummano, spa towns and Pescia famous for its floriculture.
