Kalkan, a lovely small port, is one of the prettiest resorts along the Lycian coast nestling on the edge of the Toros Mountains. Its traditional, white-washed houses line the steep narrow winding streets garlanded with brilliant flowers that cascade from the balconies to the streets below. There are many restaurants offering a wide variety of dishes at more than reasonable prices, a bazaar, souvenir shops and a picturesque yacht marina.
Although beaches in the resort are limited most tourists take a bus or a boat ride to one of the splendid nearby beaches; Kaputas Beach, a lovely sandy beach dramatically positioned at the foot of a ravine or Patara Beach one of the Mediterranean's most beautiful and undiscovered beaches.
Watch the sun setting and the comings and goings of the yachts from one of the many roof terraces whilst enjoying a pre-dinner drink

Kalkan is around 140 km from Dalaman Airport.

Kalkan is an ideal base to explore archaeological sights as over twenty-five are only a couple of hours away. Footpaths go around the peninsula to Limanagzi, Gedife Hill, Phellos, Gokceoren, Mount Asaz, and the Gombe plateau and maps are available. The Lycian Way, Turkey's first walking trail, is a 30-day walk around the coast and mountains. There are good, reputable companies with modern equipment and qualified supervisors offering paragliding from the town. The Market is on every Thursday Diving clubs operate from the harbour as the variety of sea life and visibility are excellent. Half-day trips are very popular. Explore the coast between Kalkan and Bodrum on a boat trip from the marina. Nightlife mainly centres on eating, drinking and people watching and although there are a few live music venues there is a strict code for bars and excessive noise is prohibited.
