The Province of Trapani includes the city of the same name. It also includes the Egadi, or Egidean, Islands of which Favignana about 15 km offshore is the largest. Still known for their tuna (tunny) fishing, these islands are now famous as beach resorts. Favignana, a favorite spot for sun worshipers, can be reached by ferry from Trapani.

Trapani town faces west and is a good place to view wonderful sunsets. The surrounding coastal plain is dotted with the windmills

San Vito lo Capo, a charming coastal town north of Trapani town below Mount Cofano has a great beach and is near the Zingaro Nature Reserve.

Scopello is a beautiful small tunny-fishing port with a shingle beach.

Castellammare del Golfo is a big agricultural and trading center dominating the wide bay of the same name. The city is located on the slopes of the Stagnone mountain.

There is a small airport at Trapani with flights to Palermo, Lampedusa and Pantelleria.
