Almería airport is 10 km east of the city centre and serves many charter and scheduled flights. The E-15/N-340 motorway connects the province to the rest of Spain.

The pristine waters off the Cabo de Gata-Níjar are ideal for underwater photography, diving, snorkelling, sailing, sea-kayaking, windsurfing and all types of fishing. Mountain biking and 4X4 excursions are popular in the mountains.
