Renting an apartment on Barcelona's emblematic pedestrian boulevard, Las Ramblas, is a guarantee that you'll be in the thick of Barcelona's lively street life both day and night. A long, busy promenade marked with street performers, human statues, and stalls selling everything from roses to turkeys, Las Ramblas is definitely one of Barcelona's must-see sights.
To the east of Las Ramblas lies the ancient Barri Gòtic. The rental apartments in Barcelona's oldest district are romantic places, and some are housed in restored historic buildings. Within walking distance of all our Barri Gòtic apartments are Barcelona's main sights: the Gothic cathedral, the old Jewish quarter, the town hall, the Barcelona City History Museum, and the countless stone plazas that make this area such a pleasure to stroll. Here you'll also be near some of the best shops, restaurants and bars Barcelona has to offer.
Whether or not you rent your holiday apartment in Barcelona's Ramblas/Barri Gòtic district, be sure to come here for La Boquería market, one of Barcelona's largest and oldest fresh markets, and the Liceu, the grand Barcelona opera house. If you can't attend a concert here at least stop by for a tour. Also worth seeing is the statue of Christopher Columbus that sits at the foot of Las Ramblas. For a small fee you can take an elevator up to the top of the statue, where a cramped lookout area provides good views of the cityscape.
For shopping or people watching, head down streets like Portaferrissa, Petrixol and Avinyò. These streets are filled with funky shops and cafes. Petrixol is known for its chocolate shops, while Avinyò is the domain of trendy fashions and Portaferrissa has lots of affordable chain stores.
Gothic Quarter Street SceneMetro line 3 (the green line) runs right down Las Ramblas, stopping at Plaça Catalunya, Liceu and Drassanes. Metro line 4 (yellow line) makes a stop at the edge of the Barri Gòtic at Jaume I.
